Our Client Spotlight Series is a collection of blogs designed to shine a light on the great work our clients are doing and highlight the various ways we can support nonprofits and small businesses like yours.

For 25+ years, Waweza Movement has walked alongside vulnerable widows, orphans, and children with disabilities in Kenya — not from a distance, but through relationship. Their team runs direct-care programs alongside a working farm, a chicken business, and trade training, creating a flywheel that funds its own overhead over time and multiplies its impact year after year.

But like a lot of mission-driven organizations, Waweza’s story was harder to tell than it was to live out. Their team knew the on-the-ground work inside and out — the challenge was translating that into a message that actually resonated with the donors making it possible.

Our Work Together

We partnered with Waweza’s team, led by Joseph and Megan Lewin, to build a full brand messaging guide ahead of an upcoming website relaunch. Together, we worked through:

  • Two core audience profiles — donors and the community served — mapping out what each audience wants, the problems they face, and how Waweza can speak directly to both
  • A donor-first reframe, shifting the message away from “here’s who needs help” and toward assuming the best in donors: they already care, they just lack the time, access, and visibility to do this work themselves
  • A complete brand story, one-liner, and tagline (“Reduce Poverty and Restore Hope”) built to work across the website, email, and print
  • An empathy-and-authority framework highlighting Waweza’s near-zero overhead model and 25+ years of on-the-ground relationships
  • Resource and email sequence ideas, including a donor prayer guide — a simple way to invite donors into partnership beyond just giving

The guide was delivered as both a documented PDF and an editable Canva file, so Waweza’s team can keep coming back to it as they move into their website redesign and beyond.

What Waweza Movement Can Do For You

If you care about seeing widows, orphans, and children with disabilities in Kenya cared for with dignity — not through a one-time transaction, but through a sustainable, relationship-driven model — Waweza Movement is worth a closer look. Their local staff, near-zero overhead, and self-sustaining programs mean your gift moves directly into the work rather than funding administration.

We’re looking forward to seeing this messaging come to life on their new website, and we’ll share the results here once it’s live.
